Xp x64 Professional, one of my favorites and apparently one of yours too or you wouldn't be here. All the power of running a 64 bit operating system with all the user friendliness of driving xp. When you tell it to do something it happens unlike Vista or Win 7 it doesn't get in the way by trying to help you and then not do what you ask. Does it have some kludgey features? You bet, but not that many and really the only thing really bad about it is the lack of support that microsoft didn't put behind it.
Okay on to the issues. You can install Xp x64 Professional like you would Xp, first off you want to get the Xp x64 Service pack 2 that's the last one they've released for Xp x64, at least it's the last one in public circulation if you know of a Service Pack 3 for it let me know where it is and we'll all have links to it. Anyway assuming you're running the only known version out there you can do your install the same way I described in the Xp32 section using partitions and making backups as you go along. There is of course the issue of having the right drivers for whatever you're installing it onto. This OS was made when floppies were the standard on all machines and it expects that if you have a driver issue you will hit the F6 key during the installation and provide the needed drivers on a floppy. That's the only way to put them in from the base install unless you slipstream them into your CD. I've done it both ways and as I've said before the other way is let if finish the install and if it blue screens use Paragon to put the drivers in later.
Assuming you get it up and running and now want to make it right the main issue with Xp x64 is it will sometimes have a few glitches once you've finished the install even if you've got the drivers right. To see if your install has any issues go to My Computer hit the right mouse button and select Manage and then select the Event Viewer from there select each heading and see if you have any issues going on as indicated by red icons at the front or yellow ones, we want nothing but black meaning no issues. Xp64 usually has issues with the search function it seems to be the most often occurance.
